A note from Darcy:
THIS COMPETITION HAS ENDED,
BUT YOU CAN STILL DO THE ACTIVITY FOR FUN!
INTRO
One of my pieces in That Sack of Air was a piece called ‘MARKWOOD’. In ‘MARKWOOD’, everything in the town was footy related, from the shops to the amusement park and road markings. I had so much fun creating this imaginary world.
Here’s a little snapshot of my process:
Now, it’s your turn…
What would your very own wonderland LOOK LIKE?
PROMPTS TO EXPLORE
How do I feel when I’m here? (Eg. happy, curious, relaxed, inspired, silly, wild)
What are the things that make it special? (Could be a shop, a body of water, a sculpture)
Who else/what else exists here? (People, animals, plants, creatures)
CREATIVE TIPS
Often the hardest part of any creative pursuit is starting! Dive in - make your mark, then adjust from there.
There is no such thing as a bad idea, where your idea starts is often very different from where you will end up.
Trust yourself and go for it :) Let your imagination run wild.
OR simply start creating on your own paper/cardboard/canvas, whatever is easier for you!
